The book I was working on during the last 3 years is finally ready!
I started documenting the gentrification affecting my Barcelona neighborhood, as old factories are replaced by hotels and office buildings.
The pages of my sketchbook have become a record of change, as the old is bulldozed in the name of progress. This is my testimony to keep in mind what made Poblenou special to me.

Hallo Freunde!
"Vor Ort" is an exhibition and a workshop project organized and hosted by Landesmuseum Mainz and Jenny Adam in association with Urban Sketchers.
I´m happy to say that I’ll be there teaching with such a group of great sketchers and friends: Marina Grechanik, Sebastian Koch, Johanna Krimmel and Inma Serrano.

following is a short description of my workshop: “All you can see! 180º sketching”

Our way to represent the space since « Renacimiento » is conditioned to a maximum 30º viewing angle, which is very limited compared to what we are experiencing while sitting in a place, turning the head, and looking up and down. That’s how I started sketching some curvilinear perspective in a very intuitive way, exploring how to represent a scene as in a sphere or as in a cylinder.
But I’m also used to fit the elements of a scene into the page, making some distortions, or adding the soundtracks of what I’m hearing while sketching, from the people that are talking to me, to the ringing bells from the church behind, or music of a car passing by…
We will explore how to represent a panoramic view in a narrow street, telling the particular mood of the place. In spite of looking only at the architecture, the sketchers will aim to represent a 180º view fitting the people, the street activity and listening to what is happening.

"ouessant. un polop chez les maouts"

I will sign my book of ouessant island next saturday in Ouessant, and the 11th of april in brest.

In march 2017, I was invited by the association « ENKI » to a one month artist residency in the Créac’h semaphore, next to the legendary Créac’h light house of Ouessant.
Ouessant is the furthest west island of Britany, a small dot in the Atlantic Ocean.
First I was welcomed by the storm Zeus with its 200 km/h winds, then by the locals: a bunch of sailors, pirates and heroes who invited me for a glass or two while I was portraying them.
After one month I captured more than 100 of them in my pages.

joon is a new french airline based at paris’ charles de gaulle airport.
joon is offering the new generation travel experience by air france.
for its inaugural flights on the 1st of december, I was commissioned to create this special collection of travel books of joon’s first destinations: berlin, barcelona, lisboa and paris.
during the summer of 2017, I spent one week in each of this cities to catch in my sketchbook the special mood of this 4 major towns. the result is this luxury limited edition collection as a gift for the travelers to enjoy the best experience at destination.

arte - cities by the sea - barcelona!

cities by the sea - barcelona will broadcast on the german/french TV channel arte on friday 17th of november at 18:30.
they followed me during one day while sketching along the sea front.

compostela ilustrada

next week, I will participate to the 2nd travel book meeting "compostela ilustrada" next to la crème de la crème of spanish and portuguese artists: alfredo, jorge arranz, fernanda lamelas, teresa ruivo, isabel seidel…
I will teach a workshop inside santiago de compostela's cathedral, talk about my process and my project "lost poblenou" and present my latest books "paris, je t'aime", "barcelona original", "barcelona, modernisme beyond gaudí" and "cuaderno de cuba".

je retourne pour 15 jours sous le ciel breton.
j'exposerai au côtés d'urban sketchers du 12 au 14 mai au festival des carnets de voyage "ici & ailleurs" à brest.

et d'ici là, je chevaucherai une mobylette pour la 3ème édition de croq and mob in brocéliande.

retromobile is a major international event in paris, the best show of the season devoted to classic cars.
